There is a local legend that after the Beatles played the Colston Hall in November 1963, they ended up drinking at an after-hours lock-in here at the Cotham Porter Stores. The story goes that John Lennon (suitably relaxed after a little cider!) found himself a tin of blackboard paint and a brush, and knocked out a beauty of a sketch on the pub wall. The resulting lazy scene of country folk drinking and snoozing is still here for all to see & admire whilst relaxing amidst our hospitality.
In common with the best pubs in Bristol, the Cotham Porter Stores is a true community pub, the sort of place where people are comfortable to go and have a quiet drink on their own or to have a fun evening with friends.
Our love of beer informs every decision and the range of drinks in the pub has broadened under our stewardship, with Wickwar Wessex ales available on hand pulls and rotating guest ales & ciders served direct from the cask.
We have a very popular if not challenging quiz from 7.30 on Thursday evenings. The quiz offers you the chance to win £50 cash and 10 pints of premium Wickwar Wessex ale for 1st prize and 20 pints for 2nd place!
Our first love may be beer, but this is closely followed by our passion for Rugby. As well as taking in the match make sure you have a good look at our vintage pictures and memorabilia. There may well be a small prize if you can name all the players in the pictures.
